Western Work Boot
Villain, The (Full Frame) He's dressed in black from boots to hat and he's twirling double iron. His name is "Cactus Jack" Slater and he's "The Villain". Kirk Douglas stars as the ne'er-do-well highwayman in this screwball gunslinger comedy co-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Handsome Stranger and Ann-Margret as the lusty Miss Charming Jones. Charming's father Parody has sent her on a risky overland errand, providing crooked banker Avery Simpson with the perfect chance to double-cross Parody out of a silver fortune. And when Simpson offers to buy Cactus Jack out of the Snakes End Jail if he'll do the dirty work, Cactus Jack schemes to double-cross the double-crosser. But his plans are foiled when Arnold Schwarzenegger weighs in as Handsome Stranger. He owes Parody Jones his life, and the payback is pure pistol-popping laughter as the blue-eyed do-gooder does his duty: protecting the loot and the lady with a white-hatted paladin's good luck. Ride along with a horse named Whiskey and an all-star cast featuring Paul Lynde as "The Villain" plots to outsmart Handsome with slapstick determination. A raucous western spoof that proves you can't judge a cowboy by the color of his hat.
$10 Horse, $40 Saddle: Cowboy Clothing, Arms, Tools, and Horse Gear of the 1880's by Don Rickey, The cowboy of the open western range flourished from 1865 to about 1885. his brief heyday, he made a permanent impression that has been perpetuated by dime novels, wild west shows, and horse operas. But the picture portrayed in popular media is often historically incorrect. Don Rickey Jr. relied on the last of the real cowboys -- old-time rawhiders who scoffed at the phoniness of their media image -- to put the record straight. $10 Horse, $40 Saddle, based on the author's personal acquaintance with cowboys, describes "the clothes they wore, the gear they used, the arms they carried, and the trappings and tools of their calling". The book provides a wealth of information about cowpoke dress, from Stetsons and unfancy dark shirts to boots and underwear. It includes illustrations of the guns, ropes, and saddles that enabled cowboys to do their unromantic work. Rickey never stints on detail, even noting how the men rid their blankets of lice (by placing them on anthills). $10 Horse, $40 Saddle is an entertaining narrative that corrects misconceptions about cowboys and offers an authentic look at the Old West.
Australian work boots - Australian work boots (or generically elastic-sided boots) are a unique style of work shoe, typically constructed with a leather upper bound together with elastic sides and pull tabs on the front and back of the boot. The shoe lacks a tongue, and laces, and sometimes contains a steel toe cap for occupational health and safety reasons. Science fiction Western - A science fiction Western is a work of fiction which has elements of both the science fiction and Western genres. Science fiction elements are transported to the American West, in a steampunk fashion. Boot polish boy - Boot polish boys are children who work at railway platforms in India. Their "business" is to polish people's shoes, and they charge very little for it. Spaghetti Western - Spaghetti Westerns is a nickname for a broad sub-genre of Western film that emerged in the mid-1960s, so named because most of them were produced by Italian studios. Originally they had in common the Italian language, low budgets, and a recognizable highly fluid, violent, minimalist cinematography that eschewed (some said "demythologized") many of the conventions of earlier Westerns—partly intentionally, partly as a result of the work being done in a different cultural background and with limited funds.
